Video Poker - "Beforeplay" Tip Rate It [ 0.00 / 0 Votes ]
Any thoughts?
Whether you're a newcomer to the game of video poker or an old hand, it's tempting to race to the PC, open up the game, place a bet and start playing. But hold the phone! Have you forgotten the most important step? Have you forgotten the "beforeplay"?Always take a few minutes before you play to read the machine. First, are you playing for nickels, dollars or what? Second, what do the pay tables tell you?
Different games have different win rates. You can actually shop around for better odds by reading the payout tables. Usually, every coin played in Jacks or Better pays out nine coins for a full house and six for a flush. A machine with a 10/7 payout gives better odds than, say, a 6/5 machine.
Familiarity Breeds… Winners
Learn the rules and proper strategy for the video poker version you want to play. Then, get really familiar with where everything is on the screen before playing… the cashout button, the deal/hold button, etc.
Go slowly at first. Pace yourself. You could prevent a costly mistake and at the same time, make your budget (and the fun) last longer! More on Video Poker secrets next week.
